WEAVERVILLE, NC --
In Western North Carolina (WNC), many of our customers have a well as their water source. It's important to note that every water source has its pros and cons, well water included. This particular well water had low pH, hardness, and sediment. We found this out when we tested the water in our Asheville office. We also found that the water contained a trace of iron and, although it was only a trace, there will almost certainly be staining of fixtures such as toilets, sinks, showers, and bathtubs.
If there is even a slight trace of iron and hardness in the water, the otherwise white minerals can be stained a rust color. Low pH can cause turquoise staining, as a result of the acidic water corroding metal it comes in constant contact with. Sediment rears its ugly head by clogging aerators, filling toilet tanks, and settling to the bottom of sitting water, typically. To address these specific issues, we recommended a Neutralizer, Water Softener, and a Canister Filter. There is no "one size fits all" solution, despite various marketing efforts in the filtration industry. It's important to understand specific water chemistry, usage, flow rates, etc. If you have concerns about your water quality, please contact us or bring us a water sample. We provide a free consultation and free water testing!
