Spring Water

Naturally occurring surface water springs can be a source of water. However, due to potentially harmful bacteria, tannins, low pH, and turbidity, spring water should be treated prior to entering a home.

**Because water chemistry is constantly changing, using a surface water spring as a potable water supply is not recommended**

Treatment Options:

  • At a minimum, we recommend UV light treatment to address harmful bacteria in the water.‍
  • Most surface water springs have a low pH, which requires the installation of a Neutralizer to correct the pH. ‍
  • It is also common for spring water to have sediment, turbidity, and tannins present, requiring filtration.
There are different ways of treating these issues, including canister filters and ultrafiltration.
